I'm Jenifer Witt, lifelong northern Michigan resident. To fund my wanderlust, I'm a high school English and Social Studies teacher.  I'm a traveler, poet, writer, photographer, and novice quilter. I love being outdoors: hiking, biking, kayaking, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, exploring, and walking my dogs, Pip and Sancho.

I'm a retired engineer with an art background (Industrial Design) and an interest in writing. I seem to have found my niche at the Northern Camper as a nature writer, which suits me fine. Every month or so, I research a couple of Michigan species -- one plant and one animal. Then, along with my research, I try to bring my experiences as a homeowner, traveler, and observer into play to give my writing a personal slant. Sometimes this is a challenge, like writing a story on earthworms (interesting creatures, though not a lot of personality), but every time I write one of these articles, I learn things. I hope you do, too!
